Syrian rebels use suicide bomber for massive attack

As further proof that our Syrian Rebels (that the U.S. is now supporting) are very al Qaeda like, The New York Times carried a story today about a massive truck bomb.

The Syrian Rebels used a suicide bomber to drive a truck packed with six tons of explosives. The bombing killed an estimated 60 Syrian Troops. Full story here: Large Truck Bomb Reported to Kill 60 Syrian Troops.

Also from the story, more proof that our intervention into this civil war could come back to bite us…

In an interview, (Syrian President Bashar al-) Assad warned the European Union not to send arms to the rebels, saying it would “pay the price” by spawning terrorism in its own backyard.

So, there you go. I think we’d be foolish not to expect repercussions from our intervention into Syria. Maybe if the Rebels win and we have a counter balance to Iran, this will prove worth it, but I’m still skeptical. And I still believe we’re on the verge of entering into another war.

  1. A large truck bomb. Where have I heard that before? And I don’t believe for one minute that if the “Rebels” manage to remove Assad from power that we won’t end up with another Muslim state, Sharia law and all. But, in the grand scheme of things, do I really care? A little yes and a whole lot of no. Let ’em kill each other. As I’ve been saying since, oh, 1983, that’s what they do. That’s what they understand. SF.

  2. Honestly… Let the animals wipe themselves out.. We don’t owe them anything… Even if we do somehow make a difference itll end up the same shit hole in 5 or 10 years regardless of what we do.

    • Cpl D, thanks for the comment!

Your view sure seems to be the prevailing view. I don’t think I’ve met or talked with a single person who favors us getting involved in Syria.

I take that back… Good ole’ John McCain has never seen a war he didn’t think we should get involved in, but other than him…

I’m just almost stunned were even getting involved. It just seems almost no one thinks it’s a good idea.
